[New Plugin] Search plugin (1 Viewer)

Just i thinking about a single plugin which can search in all media found in MediaPortal (something like global search), like music, video, pictures, youtube, radio streams....
This plugin should have some kind a plugin support. When a developer made a plugin , he can implement a lite class which search for media used in his plugin. On startup the search plugin will scan the mp plugin used plugins and will be load this classes if they exist.

Supported internal search providers :

• Music
• Video
• Pictures

Kind of like Spotlight for Mediaportal ...
That would be great Especially if it supported a find-as-you-type search with the first results displayed immediately and then filtered with each new input.

But is the plugin-in support you are talking about even possible? Without that (and MovingPictures/TVSeries) it would loose a lot of potential.

I made first version of the plugin, now search only in MyMusic and MyVideos and a lot feature missing. To download see first post.
I'm curios about search performance, so if somebody have a large music database pls test it. THX

Update: Support for "find-as-you-type" search, so real time search on typing the search text, the skin isn't perfect but usable

I just gave this a go - when I type in "Prince" I get 11 results for "Music" but when I click on "Music" I don't see any results, just the "up" (back) button.....

I love the idea of this plugin already. Spend a bit more time working on it and everyone will need this plugin .

this is exactly what im looking for the whole time. A tool which searches for video files by typing the first character.
We have a huge video database of movie trailers (over 3000 Trailer so far) and this plugin would be great. sadly it i dont get it work yet

here are the log files attached. Seems to be something with the sql database.. dont know.
It would be grat if this plugin would work in my mediapotal.
