My server is running well, but my old PSU (500W) is noisy as hell...
I want a new one but am not sure how mutch power I need for a server with 4 SATA 500GB....

Here are my specs:

MSI K9AGM2-FIH
Onboard video
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
Arctic Cooling CPU koeler Freezer 64 Pro low profile
Cooler Master Ultra Silent Case Fan 80x80mm
Trust VI-2050 firewire pci card
Digital Everywhere FireDTV-C + CAM
512MB DDR2
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 16mb
Samsung Spinpoint 500GB 16mb

(2 more 500 GB HDD later...)
And I might use a RAID (5?) setup in the future....

Any good tips on a cheap silent PSU with the juice in need (less is better)
Anything from this list would be best...

Also what would anybody advise on the standby/hybernate setup?
I'd like to have bittorrent running and to have my Server to be active when I want to access it, but would love to have it startup/hybernate by itself.
Now im turning it on/off myself (works good too hehe)

Whow Thanks PD that is really nice!
My wattage will be under 400 so im a happy guy!
Think ill go for a:
Nexus-4090 (68,95 euro)
or:
Be Quiet! Straight Power 400W (53,98 euro)

anybody got a good suggestion for a 400W?

I've a Zalman ZM460B-APS PSU. It's very silent and very good quality. Don't underestimate the importance of an overdimensioned PSU, better have some more extra Watts to assure system stability.

BTW: The power as stated on a PSU is not the power it uses, but the power it can provide as maximum, so a PSU of 350Watts with a bad 'rendement' can consume more power as a good designed PSU with 460W in the same computer.

These are recommended PSU's for HTPC:

    High Q:
    - Seasonic
    - Corsair ("Seasonic in disguise"- but even lower noise)
    - Mist (rebranded?)

    Good test resaults
    - Chill Innovation (Dannish?)

Cheap - somewhat OK reputation (depending on who you ask)
    - NorthQ

You might want to take a look here: http://www.silentpcreview.com/section10.html
(nobody does PSU testing like SPCR)
