New to Media (1 Viewer)

Hi i am new to the program and i am having some trouble setting up my TV pluggin through media portal. Right now i have a Sabrent PCI tv tuner card that is functioning in windows without problem. when i go into media portal though i try to do the general wizard setup and it does not detect any channels. i let it run for about 8 hours and still nothing came up in the channel detection. also when i try to get my city from the please select city under the us it shows no cities are avaible. i am not sure if this entire mess is because i am living at my college dorm but i do know that the program the tv tuner came with works fine. i am pretty sure media portal is no different. if anyone could give me steps to do to fix this problem or a link to where someone gives the steps to correct this problem i would greatly appreciate it. thank you!

hi,
try the tvengine3 (there's a link on the startpage on the right), for me this works much better. but be careful these are untested subversions, so get a version with no or only little comments which say that it doesn't work.
a search should not take more than 20 minutes. i do all the changes with the backend (mediaportal configuration in the start menu), because when i used mp the first time mp crashed while running the setup within the frontend again and again.

alright thanks a lot. now does this program just install on my computer or is it a plugin on the mp website. also the startpage that your refering to i am assuming is the main mp page. thanks for the advice though.

having some issues now with the TV server progarm... i installed it once but it couldnt recognize my video card.... now when i install it, it keeps saying that it cannot find my computer... i tested the connection and it said that it passed the connection test so why am i still having issues... also when i try to open the program it takes a long time to come up with the error.... all the sql services are currently running and nothing has changed since i unistalled the program... any ideas... thanks

also wanted to add that the program comes up with an error saying the TV service hasnt been started but after i install it, it asks if i would like to enable the TV service... any other way i can turn it on or explain why this isnt workin?

I would not immediatly switch to TV3. Instead of scanning with the main programs included setup wizard, start the configuration program and try a scan from there. Somehow this works better.

Since you obviously have TV3 installed now, you would need to uninstall and reinstall the "normal" MP 0.2.3 Version first.

well right now whenever i go into configure my tv tuner card it comes up and says that it cannot create a graph for it when i add the card in media portal configuration normal.... the other issue i am having is that when i go to start my tv it comes up with the same error... cannot create graph for device. can anyone explain to me what this error means because it doesnt make sense... or some way to fix it would be even better!!! i just want to watch TV through media portal.... dont care what i need to run just tell me how to set it up =) thanks!

well i just fiddled some more and i got the TV Server to finally work... problem now is that i cant discover channels.... i am at a university but my program that came with the tv tuner has no issues in finding the channels.... any explination to this??? why cant media see them but the other program can???
