Hello, I am from Fort Dodge, Iowa.I am new to mediaportal, I decided to give it a closer look after i saw a video on it on youtube. Most other HTPC programs don't have the flexability im looking for. Id like to have a HTPC that i can watch TV/use as a DVR, watch online videos/TV, Watch movies on, Play emulators on, and possibly watch blu rays on. I have heard all of these things are possible, but idk how to set it all up. I look forward to learning more about this program, and moving forward with my HTPC system.

    Welcome.

    The best thing you can do to get an idea is to look here MediaPortal_Manual_Index - MediaPortal Manual Documentation

    It is fairly simple to set up if you want it to be, but if you want to then add additional functions (such as moving pictures and Blueray - and a whole load of other stuff) then it can get a little bit more involved.

    This forum is an excellent source of help.

    I suggest you give it a go and then see how you get on.

    p.s. you will never look back.

    I suggest to set it up you install mediaportal either [1.0.2] OR [1.1 BETA followed by latest precompiled snapshot]
    Then install streamedmp (choose the version that matches your version of mediaportal).
    This is a good way to start because it automatically installs my tv series and moving pictures at the same time, which are the two most widely used plugins

    Link to download mediaportal -> https://www.team-mediaportal.com/download.html

    Link to download StreamedMP
    For MP 1.0.2 -> http://streamedmp.googlecode.com/files/StreamedMP-0.8.448.exe
    For MP 1.1 Beta -> http://streamedmp.googlecode.com/files/StreamedMP-0.9.601.exe
