I know the broadcasters send EPG info here in AU. And I know my DVB-T can see that EPG info. I am also using BlazeHDTV. With that I am getting the EPG info straight from the broadcaster. Am I wrong in thinking MediaPortal can read that info? There is an EPG grabber in the TV server, but it is not grabbing. All the info I am seeing (here and thru google) is that you must download that info from the net. Is the web the only place to get the epg info?

All the web epg xmls I am getting are not all that accurate. I would like to use the broadcasted epg info.

cheers

    try http://www.epgstream.net

(I use this and its pretty good)

there are also a couple of solutions in the forums. one by Big Kev,
    Oz TV Guide Downloader

and another (cant remember who the author is)

A [forum title] search for "australian epg" should get you started if you want to read up on them.

There is also ICETV which is a commercial service. Costs about $10 p/month
    http://www.icetv.com.au/

alternately you can use the DVB signal data, which is ok, but doesnt give much info in advance (only good for 24-48 hours ahead)

Thanks for the reply and the links. I have found most of the info on getting EPGs online. I was more interested on the boradcast EPGs. I can't find any info on the ones broadcast with the signal. The option is there in MediaPlayer but there is no info anywhere on it.

    I must sound super-noob...
Do you need to use the EPGgrabber plugin? Or does that part of the tvserver automatically do it?
My tvserver looks like that page, all DVB-T. But the scheduler is empty (well, was until I used an xmltv script). Should it automatically see the EPG stream and use it?

Which would you prefer (if I can get the broadcasted EPG to work), the broadcasted or the internet grabbed?

well from memory you would either use xmltv or dvbt or webepg. Im not sure if you can use more than one at a time but cant think of a reason why to do that.

I prefer xmltv over dvb because you get more data (so if u want to record a show in 5 days time the info's there whereas it usually isnt with dvb stream).

If using dvb-t use the interface I posted the wiki link to above

If using xmltv use xmltv plugin in for tv server
    https://www.team-mediaportal.com/manual/TV-Server/Configuration/Plugins/XmlTv

Cant advise you about webepg as Ive never used it.

Well I actually use all 3. I use xmltv for some satellite french channels, webepg for the greek analog channels and dvb epg for a couple of channels which the xmltv file I use doesn't find. The main thing to take care is to not declare 1 channel on both xmltv and dvbepg. If you do you get nothing, if I remember correctly. So choose the channels you want from the dvbepg config in MP and then setup your xmltv or webepg omitting those channels. Or setup xmltv and for the channels you don't find accurate data, remove them from xmltv and tick them in tvserver dvbepg configuration.

Thanks for all your help. I have it about 95% done. I ended up using the epg download manager (Big Kev's I think). I am finding that One/OneHD are inaccurate when I use OzTivo as the source. So I am going to need to use something else for that. Anyone use a different source for their XML? Also, still trying to get the DVB EPG working. I am guessing that Media Portal doesn;t like my card/driver. I am using an inexpensive USB DVB-T.

    Thanks for all the help.
