Newbie - Problems With TerraTec 2400i DT (1 Viewer)

I've recently built a new HTPC for my parents and the software that came with the TV Card (Terratec 2400i DT) is awful. The display would freeze up constantly and I'd need to reboot the PC to get back to TV. When it was working the signal was good with little or no choppiness, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the aerial or the card itself. I was recommended MediaPortal by a friend so here I am. I've tried installing and following the guide of setting things up but when I go to watch TV I get an error of "Unable to start timeshifting
Unknown error occured". I have seen a few seconds of TV a couple of times so the tuners appear to be tuned correctly and my audio/video decoders seem to be set up correctly. When I look at the "error.log" file in the log folder the last lines are as follows:

I've included the details of the setup I know in my profile. I read another post here which said that someone had been using the same card as me. I'm just getting so frustrated trying to get TV working...it's never as easy as it should be!

Hmmm think there may well be a problem, either signal or more likely TVcard, check for driver updates, but you can guarantee, if it will mot work with the manufacturers software, then the chances of it working with MP are nil.

No driver updates and I've read there are other people having problems with the bundled software. There was a post I found with a search on here earlier where someone said they used the same card with MP and had no problems.

Then I would go for signal quality, just because a settop box works fine, does not mean it will work correctly with pc dvb-t tuners, the first are a lot more sensitive and by the time the signal is split between the 2 tuners may have seriously deteriorated.

There have been a few reports of these TVCards actually having faults on them, the only way of finding out, is trying in another pc that may already have a working dvb-t card in it.

IIRC ronisle, one of our testers has one of these cards which he repaired, because of faulty soldering.

Just to be sure you have configured cards correctly, make sure you select recording folders and timeshifting folders, TVServer has a habit of not accepting the defaults unless you have opened to folder, this needs to be done for each card available in the dropdown box, this also shows as cannot start graph errors, if you have set both to another HDD, make sure you have set timeshifing folder seperately.

That's about all i can think of atm.

Hi,
Attach all logs after a reboot & a test where it fails, i'll have a look when it's attached.
My card works fine now(as PD said i had some bad soldering on the mounting bracket, typical design failure), but for the moment i have disabled one of the tuners(not needed since stress testing other stuff) & it's even running on vista x64
