Was wondering if someone can recommend a DVBS card.
I would like Mpeg 2 onboard and I assume to make life easier a loopback so that I can chain another card.

I saw the VisionDTV Satellite TV Tuner+Video PCI Record Card which has a loopback but its software encoding. Since I want to begin testing the TvEgine I thought this card may place a demmand on the cpu expecially if I am running two cards.

Any suggestings would be greatly apprecaited.

Oh lastly it needs to be ntsc if that matters.

Let me know if you can and thanks.

    Hi Richard,

You don't need "Mpeg 2 onboard" as DVB-S is already in MPEG2 format and no further encoding is required at the PC end.

I assume by "loopback" that you mean antenna pass-through, so you can connect 2 DVB-S cards to the one antenna cable?

Have a look here to see which DVB-S cards are currently support by MediaPortal.

    Interesting thanks

Thaks very much for the feedback. I didn't realize that the datastream was in Mpeg 2 (doh). Well this certainly makes life easier. Yes the loopback is for the antenna.

Still, I am curious if the community has had better luck with any particular card. Perhaps they all work the same, not sure. See heres the thing, I am just not as gifted as you folks are when it comes to this technology so I am looking to make my life as easy as possible. lol
