NEWBIE - Remote wont work (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I am a NEWBIE to these forums and I am seeking some assistance with the remote that was supplied with my new HTPC (Windows 7)

The Media Centre style remote and IR cable (not-usb) came with the DigitalNow Quad DVB-T PCIe tuner DigitalNow that I had installed on the machine. The tuner works a treat and scanned the channels perfectly. The quality of the broadcast is also superb! The wireless keyboard I bought works really well also. It can do all functions with the mouse pad, left and right clicks etc BUT I am desperate to get the remote to work.

The only buttons that work on the remote are the left, right, up, down and the middle OK.

Is there something I am missing here??? Can anyone suggest a solution?? Could it be that this remote only works with Media Centre and NOT Media Portal???

If this remote is a 'dud', well I am happy to purchase another. If this is the solution, which remote should I go for??

Any devices close by in Australia?

Hi!

Did you try to select a remote in mp config -> Remote?
Try the MCE Remote as a start.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I did select the MCE remote in the config settings. tried them all to no avail!!

A lot of these plugin to tv card remotes do not get recognised by MP, so you need a third party software to translate, try IRSS found here

Or search for eventghost, which also may detect input from remote, so it can pass it on to MP.

Did you end up getting this working? I'm looking at getting a DigitalNow tuner and was wondering whether the bundled remote would work with Media Portal
