Newbie with a few questions (1 Viewer)

Greetings!

Managed to get MP working yesterday alongside my Hauppage HDV 4000 and have to say my first impressions are really impressive, not only of the software, but also the community. And it's your help I need now

So, if you don't mind I've bunched together a few questions I have for you:

1) When switching between SD and HD channels the HD channels don't show correctly. For some reason it only shows the top left hand corner of the video, they can be fixed by going to the settings and changing the aspect ratio, but the fault comes back when a switch between and SD and HD source. Is there a known fix for this? I'm using the CoreAVC Codec.

2) Is there a good guide to setting up the EPG? At the moment, mine seems to be slowly populating bit by bit but it seems a little hit and miss.

3) What port does the TV Server use? I'm going to see if I can stream from my house to another location, using it like a free Slingbox.

4) Does the music player update the list of tracks every time is starts? So if I import my music to that directory using another programme, will it show up in the media list?

That's all for now, the more I play the more questions I'm sure I'll have.

Are you using latest version of CoreAVC, this was fixed a while back.

2) Is there a good guide to setting up the EPG? At the moment, mine seems to be slowly populating bit by bit but it seems a little hit and miss.

I'm assuming satellite, it can be slow, but more info about epg here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/development-91/sky-uk-uk-freesat-epg-43261/

I'll leave the other two questions to other people, btw always better to ask one question, more likely get a more comprehensive answer.

As far as I know, it is not possible (at least not easy) to stream MP outside of a LAN. I use Orb (MyCast your digital media with Orb 2.0 remote pc access software) to access my media while away, like a free SlingBox as you say. It isn't perfect and not as slick as MP, but it works pretty well and I know several other people around here use it also.

Also, for your question 4, check out the Music ShareWatcher plugin. It's loaded in the standard MediaPortal install by default, but you have to enable and configure it.

Thanks for the help

I've just had to reinstall MP as I played with WMC, which ruined everything. That will teach me!

With regards to the codec, I've now upgraded to 1.9.0 I was running 1.8.5, which may have been the issue.

One more thing, where is the best place to go for help with regards to picking up channels on the UK FreeSat service, I seem to be missing some when I scan Astra 28.2e (Such as BBC Three, BBC Four etc)

again for the help, I'm looking forward to wasting too much time with MP!
