I was wondering, i cant locate an option to change your nickname... is this possible, or do i need to re-register 
?

you can't. You need to re-apply for an account. And beware your moniker must not exceed 12 charatcers in length. My original nickname was meant to be reagan+carter but it ended up to be too long :/

Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this.

For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. I was just tinkering with a few settings in the MediaPortal configuration and am happy to have found the cause of the problem.
Disabling the option "Single seat setup: force RTSP usage" under "TV/Radio", "Advanced Options" resolved the issue.
After I disabled this option, I was able to delete the recordings the first time...
