Synopsis:: I tried to use my old S/W Tv card with latest tv server
(it's been a long time since i have not used it with MP ! but now i can with the TV server !!! ( i saw the news))
tv server and client are on the same PC
installation and connection are OK
i use latests drivers and winfast PVR software (runs OK) : 3.1.1.2
running a scan does not find any channel.
so i put a channel manually
but preview failed : unable to start graph
some errors in logs : 'No analog audio/video pins found'
Thanks for your help

Same problem here.

I have old analog sw card Aver Go 007 FM+.

I installed first version of TV server which had a sw card support. Everything was install fine and TV server install card and also tune channels. Practical test with single seat confuguration was bad. Many Stutters without audio made live TV unwatchable.

So I try new versions but after many reinstals incl. SQL Server I have now the same problem with No Audio/Video.

I have no Intervideo Encoder instaled but in first time I had stutters pictures without this encoders.

Anyone manage to get their software cards working? I tried my old Hauppauge WinTV card with the latest SVN and got the same results (no channels found). Installed WinDVR (card worked great with that program) and it made no difference. Anyone have any ideas? :confused:

Looks like a pin routing problem but ....(Analog tuner blindness)

Seems to be that scanning channels it's impossible on my conf because, as others pointed, some pin wiring is missing on the graph. I understood that sw based encoding was to be added to TVServer to overcome the everlasting problem of the foreign mpeg2 encoder.

But, given this:

As long as the only way to stream to the client MP instance narrows to just mpeg2-only the problem will be there.

The card can be graphedited to render (see attached xml from graphedit) but as TVServer is trying to encode the stream to feed the timesink-shift buffer the encoding to MPEG2 seems to be unavoidable..... or may be not ...

Let me put it this way, Now that Frodo is thinking on a distributed client(s)-server(s) media architecture, think for a second about how MPEG2, a heavy encoding process, will hog the CPU and also think on the bandwidth required that will eat out our home network. Ok, the first part can be avoided by a hadware encoding card PVR150 250 etc (mainly to get video from our STB) ... but the bandwidth will sink your network even on that view (worse if using WiFi).

So, why keep trying to stream so much if we normally accept lower bitrate encoding in so many shows/films everyday?

Wouldn't be a wise move to encode scaled down analog frames with a lightweight (& free) codec just to be able to stream-watch it from MP-Client?.

I remember how Frodo teached us to use VideoLAN to stream-down easyly from rtsp mpeg2 to ligther mp4 xvid, just like showshifter or snapstream did years ago.

Given that rtsp protocol accepts several formated payloads, wouldn't be possible to stream content encoded with another codec easily available or even Open Source?

Even talking about MPEG2, maybe the full frame will be too much for many networks, maybe scaling it down will help by paying some cpu at TVServer, but given the complex configurations that the new scenario enables.... Am I the only that sees our in-house networks praying for a break?

Just my 2c...

PD: Great work Frodo, creative and mind-breaking.:D

So, still without any way, how fix the problem with s/w cards under TV server.

I have h/w hybrid card also - Hauppauge HVR 1300. When I try use this card, I had a problem with stuttering on Live Tv, otherwise working normal without no audio/video issue.

Yesterday, I found something about GBPVR (www.gbpvr.com). Its mediacenter also but IMHO simplest than Media Portal. BUT!!!! GBPVR also support server/client (only on h/w cards) and its work like a charm without stutters. Dont need MS SQL or My SQL. Very simple configurations. For EPG you can use WebEPG like in MP and its distributed via server to clients. Very Nice!!!!

So, its possible looking arround GBPVR solution and try make something similar in MP but with features like, support s/w cards etc.

After browsing the svn i will try to answer myself:

Given this: on BuildGraph()

string[] audioEncoders = new string[] { "InterVideo Audio Encoder", "Ulead MPEG Audio Encoder", "MainConcept MPEG Audio Encoder", "MainConcept Demo MPEG Audio Encoder", "CyberLink Audio Encoder", "CyberLink Audio Encoder(Twinhan)", "Pinnacle MPEG Layer-2 Audio Encoder", "MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Audio Encoder", "NVIDIA Audio Encoder" };
2419

and this:

string[] videoEncoders = new string[] { "InterVideo Video Encoder", "Ulead MPEG Encoder", "MainConcept MPEG Video Encoder", "MainConcept Demo MPEG Video Encoder", "CyberLink MPEG Video Encoder", "CyberLink MPEG Video Encoder(Twinhan)", "MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Video Encoder", "nanocosmos MPEG Video Encoder", "Pinnacle MPEG 2 Encoder" };
2522

Heck.... I did not install Pinnacle software (hate it), so MP has no way to build the graph, but .... hey ... here your are the list of supported encoders to go analog.

I will check it later & post results.
