When RR at 24Hz there's no sync between audio and video in MP. Other applications play well with correct audio/video sync.

Some more info on it (copied from another discussion about it):

Only 24Hz RR seems to have this problem (haven't seen it with 50Hz or 60Hz).
The problem occurs with vmr and exclusive mode enabled.
Some codecs are more affected than others (cyberlink seems to perform best).
Using reclock solves the problem but media start is slow.
Disabling exclusive mode solves the problem too but causes tearing and sometimes media won't start (in my case - not sure if this is common).
Haven't tested evr because of heavy tearing.
Outside of MP there's no problem regardless of the codecs used.

Disagree. I'm using Vista SP1 with EVR getting the same problems.

Some codecs are more affected than others (cyberlink seems to perform best).

True. Playing back HD material with CoreAVC is the worst case. SD with ffdshow is a little bit better but also noticeable.

Using reclock solves the problem but media start is slow.
Disabling exclusive mode solves the problem too but causes tearing and sometimes media won't start (in my case - not sure if this is common).

Haven't tested with reclock, wasn't available for Vista recently.

Absolutely true. Neither with WMP nor VLC I get this lag.

Try this instead of ac3filter etc.

I'm using pdvd8 filters for mpeg2 and h264, and ffdaudio as audiofilter.
xp + vmr9 + excl. mode (ati hd3650 cats 8.10)

I change between 24hz, 50hz and 60hz...no problems with a/v synch here.

Hi, thx for the hint, but I tested every popular audio codec previously. 5 minutes ago I tested with ffdaudio again, just to find the same problem of lagging audio again.
Also I tested pdvd8 and coreavc for hd decoding, no change. The only different setting I have is the EVR renderer. Couldn't remember if I tested 24Hz lag with VMR before, so I also gave it a try. Result: The lag is MUCH smaller/shorter, but it is definitively there, getting bigger along with the amount of played time.

As I mentioned in the other lag thread, with WMP/VLC the lag doesn't appear.

Can we provide something for finding the bug? I could record a demo video, showing the normal behaviour of MP under 60Hz, showing normal behaviour of WMP/VLC under 24Hz as well as the lag within MP.
Had a look at logs, don't think thats anything useful for this bug in there.

I've tested extensivly with ffdaudio and have to say: The lag is gone!

It just works perfect.

As psykoman still has problems even with the recommended settings I'm not adding a fixed to this bug.

did you try to run MP in windowed mode, and see if the issue occurs there as well with ffdshowaudio codec used as suggested?

yes, the issue even occured in windowed mode.

But I think I might have figured out the problem in the meanwhile. I had a look with graphstudio on the graph, and figured out that mpa was in use (ffdshow was loaded, but not included in the graph). Actually I had ffdshow audio selected in preferences. I kicked MPA out of my system, and now an MS decoder was in use in the graph. MP didn't want to use ffdshow. I tried to change merit –*nothing.
I got angry and uninstalled ffdshow tryouts, and reinstalled it, guess what: it worked.

I started a few movies to test, and couldn't spot any lag. Later that evening, my computer crashed and MP installation was destroyed, had to reinstall MP, MPA was installed again (how can I deselect MPA to install with MP?) –*same issue as before. Lag is back, I can select any decoder I want, same problem. Well with the reinstallation of MP also graphstudio stopped working, it won't display any graph if I want to connect, so I cant check which codec is in use, but i assume MPA or another audio decoder available on my system.

Tried to reinstall ffdshow again, but this time without success…

Story continues another day.

Hi,

been using (well, trying to) the refresh rate changer since it's inclusion in latest svn. Everything seems to be working correctly, except 23.976fps files. These files, all .avi format, when played back with the screen changed to a 24hz refresh rate, keep getting further and further out of sync with the audio. This happens whether I use the refresh rate changer or set the refresh rate in the nVidia control panel. These files play back fine (barring the judder) when screen is set to 50hz.
Is this a codec issue? I've been using ffdshow for .avi files.
Any thoughts on how to deal with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
