I am having a problem where my card will not load up the channel names for analog channels on my card. Also, no matter what I have the settings set to it will not scam for digital channels. All of this works automatically in Media Center just not in MediaPortal. I saw a thread about the latest SVN but if that just means the latest version I have that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi MisterEff,

I'm not sure how you are receiving your signal(s). I see it's cable.... do you have a set-top box? Or is the coax cable connected directly to your hvr-1600?

If it's a set-top box, then you can't scan for channels. You use schedulesdirect.org to setup your lineup and the SchedulesDirect plugin (see my sig for links) in MP to auto-create channels and download guide data.

If you have the coax connected directly to the hvr-1600, you should be able to scan for at least analog channels if there are any, but the channel names will not be present from a scan. Just the numbers are created. The SchedulesDirect plugin will rename the channels if you wish when a match is found.

    Hope that helps.

It is connected directly to the hvr. What do I do to get channel names? And anything about the digital channels not scanning?

Can't help you with digital channels not scanning because I don't have digital channels available. But, I seem to remember seeing a config on the card setup in SetupTV.exe that asks if the card is QAM, ATSC, etc. Did you configure that properly?

As for the naming, scanning channels will give you just numbers, as I said above. You need a plugin, SchedulesDirect, that is used to get you your guide data in US/Canada. With that plugin, you are able to configure it to "rename" the channels when it finds a match between the scanned channels and the channels defined in your guide.

As far as I know, if you don't use this plugin, you would have to rename the channels manually. Also, I don't know how you would get guide data if you didn't use this plugin.

Sadly, it was free when it started but got abused.... now it's a small 20/year to prevent that abuse. I think it's a fair price given that it's the same content that you get from the cable provider (i.e., Tribune).

I don't know of a free one, but MP contains a WebEPG feature that is supposed to be able to scrape a web-based guide for data information. I haven't tried to set it up since 20/year is worth it to me.... YMMV.

Oh ya, the schedulesdirect.org has a trial period.... you can try it and see if it's worth it.

I don't want to settle for no channel names when windows media center will do it for me no problem. I want to use media portal because the media part is great but with no tv it's useless to me
