This system is using PowereDVD 10 as the MPEG-2 codec for SD content in LiveTV. However, unlike with PowerDVD 9, we only always get 25 FPS instead of 50 FPS. I played around with Deinterlacing Settings in the Catalyst for example, but it didn't have any effect.

The same happens on an almost identical system of mine. It too has WinXP SP3, a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-UD2H and maybe a slightly older Catalyst. PowerDVD 8 worked fine on that system, but with PowerDVD 10 I also get only 25 FPS for SD content in LiveTV.

I have attached logs of the former system. Except going back to PowerDVD 8 or 9, I don't know what to do. Since ffdshow has Video/Audio sync issues in LiveTV and the MPC codec has problems with aspect ratio switching, I am bound to using the PowerDVD codec in LiveTV under Windows XP, unless someone has a better suggestion.

UPDATE: the actual cause of 25 FPS is, that no DXVA is in use, when Media Portal builds the graph with PDVD10. Also PDVD11 is not working in general, neither in graphstudio, nor in MePo: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...vd11-not-working-89383/index2.html#post741620

Check the deinterlace settings in the PowerDVD or the decoder's config. Sounds like wave / bob is used.

Yes, I played around with every deinterlace setting everywhere. The only difference with forcing weave and bob was, that it then got interlacing artifacts (since weave is simply no deinterlacing) or it "bobbed" when using bob ;). With everything set back to normal, i.e. hardware acceleration enabled and the CCC set to Motion Adaptive Deinterlacing (or Automatic), the picture looks perfectly fine (as it should with MA deint), but it simply does not go above 25 FPS.

AW: Only 25 FPS with PowerDVD 10

    Hello.
One possibility is to try PDVD11. I have this running on my main HTPC with Win7 and on my old XP Laptop without Problems. PDVD11 is available at Cyberlink Website (PowerDVD11 Demo) or with SAF6 and maybe some other actual codec packs.

The other thing I can imagine that's something going wrong with Dynamic Refreshrate Changer....

Re: Only 25 FPS with PowerDVD 10

Yeah, I installed PDVD11 a few minutes ago (the demo). However, I was unable to select the PDVD11 codec in the Media Portal codec configuration. It did not show up in the list. Is PDVD11 finally blocking external usage and hoborg is doing an additional trick? Don't really want to install the whole SAF just for the PDVD11 codec.

Dynamic Refreshrate Changer is not active :/

    Hi.
Have a search for two files on your System after installing PDVD11:

    CLCvd.ax and CLVsd.ax.

And be sure you got the PDVD11 ones and not the files from older versions... After you found them, copy them aside. Then deinstall PDVD11 Demo completely. After that copy both files to a place on drive C: Then download RadlightFilterManager (a little free program to manipulate and register DirectShowFilters). Just run this prog (no need to install) and click on "register", find the ax files saved earlier, and you are done. OK, you have to do this twice as you need to register two filters. These two .ax Files is all you need from PDVD11 to make it working with MePo...

Just to proof PDVD11 is working with MePo on a Xp Machine... ;)

Re: Only 25 FPS with PowerDVD 10

Thx! Naturally I had to do that with PDVD10 too, I simply forgot about it :).

However, the graph is built with the ffdshow video codec, even though PDVD11 is selected in the codec menu of Media Portal. And as already mentioned in the first post, video and audio runs out of sync in LiveTV with ffdshow, which is a known problem.

What could be the problem here? Why is Media Portal not building the graph with PDVD11? I already set the merit of the PDVD11 video codec to 060000 - normal (from its default 020000 - do not use), but that didn't change the graph building behavior. Shouldn't matter, since the PDVD10 codec also has its default 020000. As soon as I set PDVD11 as the codec, ffdshow gets used. When I set PDVD10, PDVD10 gets used.

Re: Only 25 FPS with PowerDVD 10

Make sure you have DXVA enabled in PDVD decoder for MePo.

If DXVA is off (or not possible), PDVD decoder fall back to SW deinterlacing = always 25FPS from 50i source.

If you install *unlocked* SAF6, you can identify the problem easilly in Graphstudio.
    - srtart MePo in window
    - start and pause your video in MePo
    - START - SAF - tools - graphstudio
    - File - connect to remote graph
    - graph apear - double click on Video Mixing Renderer 9, VMR Input0 and there sould be DXVA in BiCompression. If you have 0x32595559 [YUY2] here, DXVA is not working.
    - if you hold right Ctrl and double click on "CyberLink Video Decoder (PDVD11)", more info apear, make sure DXVA is enbled

I am not sure if your integrated GPU can handle DXVA inside MePo, there was similar issues already reported on iGPU 3200.

BTW, reconsider to get better GPU, for example new AMD 6450 (for example Sapphire Radeon HD 6450 512MB HM DDR3 11190-04-20G) are ideal for HTPC, passive cooling and cheap. Watch out for ASUS 6450, they are incredible stripped!
Or some nvidia 4xx/5xx - but there are no much choice for HTPC yet...

Right, didn't think of checking if it actually uses DXVA. Will do that when I have the chance. But why would I need SAF6 for that?

However, I can't check with PDVD11 right now due to the aforementioned problem of MP not being able to connect it in the graph. I can only check with PDVD10. If I find out, that DXVA is not used with PDVD10, what would I need to do to convince it again to use DXVA?

DXVA with ffdshow or PDVD9 worked fine, for SD content. The only problem is 1080i content. The Radeon HD 3200 is definitely not powerful enough to do MA or VA deinterlacing of 1080i content with 50 FPS. Not a big issue in this case, since we currently use CoreAVC (without DXVA) for HD content on that system.

All this might be moot anyway sometime in the future. We plan on setting up Windows 7 x64 on that system instead of the old WinXP installation :). We also have a nasty issue with Catalyst on that system. Due to some horrendous bug we are currently unable to go past Catalyst 10.11.
