where do I get an "encoder device"? and why does mediaportal feel the need to always do things (like receiving analogue TV) different to every other piece of windows software ever written, they can work but not MP.

I thought I needed an mpeg2 encoder, but Nero can tune the TV card and record it to a mpeg2 file - what else do I need? below is a relevant part of my log files:

so nobody knows what a TvEncoderFilter is? nobody knows where I get one?

Should be part of the Driver installation, or at worst part of the TV cards own supplied software and is generally for analogue only (no hardware encoding).

This may be caused by Windows 2003 lacking certain abilities, multimedia wise, sorry thats as much knowledge as i have regarding Dvr-ms and sbe files produced by MCE and MP, which do need certain xp files to run.

What about TVE3, as it does not rely on microsoft mm files.

I am using TVE3, shouldn't I need the filter then?
I have the drivers installed and can watch analogue TV with the supplied software and also Nero (through the video capture part), netmeating also looks like it would show (it allows me to select the device in the initial setup but I didn't take it further). the analogue tuners seem to show up as video input devices just like any web-cam or video camera would and everything (except media portal) seems to be able to see it.

I thought I read a long time ago (I would have been on TVE2 then) that there were problems using server and multiple tuners but I never had a problem (I have 4 digital tuners, I have seen at least 3 work simultaneously)

in graph-edit, if I try to expand the "WDM streaming encoder devices" the "+" disappeares showing there is nothing in the group, am I looking in the right place?
