The link to the MainConcept SWEncoder seems to be out of date.
I bought and installed the only encoder to do encoding of the analogue input on my Hauppauge DVT-400 cards (which work natively), MediaPortal didin't even see it, so I queried it with MainConcept.
Following is a reply when I asked about the right encoder to use -
Thank you for your request, it seems like that we do not offer the right
product for you.
The only product which we offer for analog tv cards is just our MCE Encoder.
It is just designed for Windows Media Center and it allows to watch and record
tv chanels from an analog tv card.
Windows Media Center is designed to capture digital mpeg streams, which analog
tv card does not support or deliver.
But our MCE encoder is like an interface which generate mpeg steams from your
analog tv card for Media Center, so that Media Center can handle it.
Please regard that you composite connection is not supported by our MCE
Encoder.
So just for the Sky box I've gone to the expense of a card with a hardware encoder - sigh...
