I just updated MP with current svn (12745) but I can not play cd using bass engine, while reverting to internal dshow do the job.

    Log says that

    http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/11879

It seems bass can not access to audio cd

Interesting, dvd playback does not work either with this svn, log following

    http://pastebin.team-mediaportal.com/11880

DVD drive led start blinking, but just for 2 seconds. Than MP hungs up and I have to eject the dvd to return to window controls. Tried with different drive speed, from 2x to 52x

Tested also with blue2 skin, the same.

My dvd drive is reported by MP as
    HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8160B 0009 (0:1:0)

Moreover max drive speed seems not to work with audio cd using internal directshow, but it may be right just like this.

I these behaviour have something to do with new cd drive control speed.

hm, you stumbled across an issue that i have as well, but only on my Notebook. Looks like when the CD-drive is in a specific state it gets this failure.
It works very well on my 2 other PCs so, i thought it is just my drive on the notebook.
I never had the problem whit Autoplay. Only when the drive was idle and i clicked on the "Play CD" button.
when i navigate to the the CD drive via the Share view and select a track it is played tough.
Please try the workaround. if that doesn't work, i will include a checkbox in the configuration, where you can disable bass for Audio CD playback.

As for your DVD issue: MP detected it as being an invalid media type. try with a different DVD please. However this is a different story and has nothing to do with BASS.

Adjusting the maximum drive speed shold work as well, when using internal directshow. just tried it again and it really soins down the drive.

My HTPC also refuses DVD playback now - pressing "stop" however brings me back to the GUI.

Also having problem with latest SVN (due to drive speed?). DVD freezes - so does the entire HTPC. If I eject the DVD, then it becomes responsive.

Tried several drive-speeds, but no luck.

No, I've already tried. No play with autoplay and no play through shares. Tomorrow I'll try to update the dvd firmware.

It's a very old drive, it does not burn even cd. Maybe that's to blame...

But it should have to do something with latest updates. I tried several dvds, same story. Before today svn I was using svn installed in the beginning of january (maybe the sixth). I'm sorry I'm not able to be more precise, but should be something added since than: on tuesday I saw a dvd.

You are right, I had a bad test before. Sorry!

Moreover, disabling bass engine (using directx) dvds play again!
Enabling bass, cd and dvds plays right. So it is solved, now. It's very strange, I tried several times before posting. The only think I did not do was rebooting. I just woke up the pc from hibernation now. Anyway, it has strange behaviour with dvds, sometimes I had to eject to re-play the dvd.

Ok, I'll let you know what will happen next.

    Thanx for replies!

i think the problem with the DVD playback, may be related to the CD-Speed stuff.
i'll insert a checkbox to enable it and disable it as a default.

also a switch will be included to turn off BASS for Audio CD playback.

ok both the CD-Speed and Playback of Audio CDs via BASS need now to be expilicitely enabled.

So you have more chances to test.

BASS playback of Audio CDs is enabled in Music -> Misc. Settings

    Thanks, everything runs now.
While cd-speed gives annoyances only for dvd playback, could it be possibile to disable it only for dvd?
