Hi Mackey!

I just upgraded to 0.12 then 0.121 - and now I get no lyrics displayed, just the message "No music file playing". All the other info on the page is present. I thought I might have done something wrong, so I went back to 0.10, and that works fine. Back to .121, and it stops again.

Any ideas? All my music is in .wma files not .mp3.

I'll revert to 0.10 for now.

:D

Hi. I will look further into this issue tomorrow. I believe it is just related to the 0.121 version that was very quickly compiled and released. I have worked intensively the last couple of days on a new release, which should be very stable and reliable. the above error wont be present in release 0.13 which will be released tomorrow. If it is, please report back. Thanks

Hi Mackey. I'm still having this problem with MyLyrics 13 and 14. I keep reverting to 10, which is working fine.

    Any ideas?

Hi Doodles. Sorry I forgot all about this issue... I promise to look into this problem tomorrow. It seems like you don't use the gplayer. How are your music player related settings? Are you using the bass, the internal player or an external such as winamp fromwithin MP?

    No problem.

I'm currently using the "Internal dshow player" and "Default DirectSound Device". I've just switched to BASS and resintalled MyLyrics 014, but I get the same problem. The "Load ID3 tags" checkbox is not checked. Let me know if there's anything you need me to try for more info.

    Thanks

    "The music tag isn't complete"

Hi Mackey. I've just installed 0.15, and now get a different error message - "The music tag isn't complete". Does this help? (It's possible the message said this in 0.14 and I didn't notice.)

Also, I should probably have said that all my files are .wma and not .mp3.

I've just completed the (batch) lyrics scan for my 6000+ music files. I now have Lyrics for 4000 of them.

I noticed that the last modified date on most of my wma files has been changed to the date and time of the last scan, even though over half of them already had lyrics from earlier scans.

Does MyLyrics change something in the .wma files, or is this something at the MP level?

Is all the information for MyLyrics held in lyrics.xml, or is there additional information elsewhere?

Can I edit lyrics.xml with a text editor without causing problems?

I am considering removing lyrics.xml, and starting again, to see if this fixes the problem. What do you think?

    Many thanks.

Hi. The error message has been added in the latest release. It tells me that you get either no tag from the tag reader or the artist string of the tag is empty. There is natural not much MyLyrics can do about that and it will not be able to deliver a lyric without a proper tag delivered by the tag reader.

If you mail me one of your wma's that have the problem and the lyrics.xml file. I've debug MP and try to find the source to the problem (okay Media @ gmail.com without the spaces). Also please post the content of the lyrics log. I'm wondering if your wmas drm-protected? What software have they been created with? I'm likewise using wma's which the tag reader has no trouble to handle. Also try to create a new music database. If you have changed the path of your files since the last creation it might be the source to the failure. Also, have you enabled the music database monitor. I've not the best experiences with the monitor as it sometimes adds the new path of moved file without deleting the old (or at least it used to).

The last modified timestamp is changed at MP level. I don't know for what purpose, but I see that they are changed during the creation of the music database and when the file is played in MP. A bit odd I think.

There is no extra information about the lyrics hidden anywhere besides the lyric text that is stored in the lyrics.xml. You can modify the xml as you like as long as the structure of the xml still is valid. I don't believe building a new lyrics.xml will change anything. The creation of a new music database will be a better approach.
