Hi,

i want to report you the following bug... here are the Steps

1. Starting MediaPortal
2. Going to MyTV and start watching any Channel
3. Try OSD -> everything ok
4. Going to MyVideos
5. Start watching any x264 (MKV) movie
6. Stop watching movie
7. Going back to MyTV and start watching any Channel again
8. Try OSD -> nothing happens

I already found out, that the SubtitleEngine is the reason for that behavior! I use DirectVobSub for Subtitles (default Settings)!
When I disable the SubtitleEngine then everything is fine and the OSD in MyTV works as designed
This is reproducible anytime.

Log directory is attached
I hope this thread will not be deleted again, i tried my best to describe the bug i found.

Please use the MPC-HC subtitle engine which is part of the MP release.

VobSub should be banned because of all the issues it causes....

Choosing MPC-HC subtitle engine no Subtitles are shown during movie playback :-(
I see all available subs in OSD but after choosing one, nothing is displayed... do you have a hint for me, whats
    missing?!? :D

Had a quick look at logs and appears that this is bluray rip. Blurays use PGS subtitles which are not supported in MP

Does TV OSD work when MPC subtitle engine is used?

Yes TV OSD works when MPC Subtitle Engine is used.
But for some reason no subtitles are shown when using MPC Subtitle Engine :-(
I've installed ffdshow and CoreAVC with Haali Media Splitter

Don't have any other Codec Pack installed and don't want to install one, because except for this one Prob everything runs fine :)

    btw. I don't use Blu-Rays... my Files are 1080p encoded x264 mkvs

Which appear to be a bluray rip, and using its subtitle format.
that format is not supported in the MPC-HC subtitle engine MP 1.1.0 uses.

Our developers are looking into the updates of that subtitle engine. Maybe we can pack it into 1.2.0.

And where did these files come from, I don't recall Avatar being released as an MKV

I am 99% sure this has been sourced from a bluray and subtitles will be PGS. If so then they will not work with Direct VobSub and will not work with MPC subtitle engine inside MP. Please confirm what type of subs exist inside these MKVs

Sorry i'm not really firm with the different subtitle formats :sorry:

Examining my Avatar.mkv with tsMuxeR is see that the Subs within the mkv are SRT

    "S_TEXT/UTF8, "E:\Avatar.mkv",font-name="Arial",font-size=65,font-color=0x00ffffff,bottom-offset=24,font-border=2,text-align=center,video-width=1920,video-height=1080,fps=23.976, track=7, lang=eng""

    Thats what tsMuxeR says :)
Btw. using the DirectVobSub Engine the subtitles are displayed 100% correct!

if all the subs are SRT then please provide logs in debug mode attempting playback.

    Just open in Debugmode
leave 30 seconds to wait for all the startup stuff to complete
    go into My Videos
    start file
    select subs
wait a little while then stop and exit

Yes all the Subs within the mkv are SRT

    1. Sub: german forced
    2. Sub: german
    3. Sub: english forced
    4. Sub: english

I've started MediaPortal in Debug Mode waited about 30 seconds went to myVideo and startet Avatar
then i selected Sub 2 (german) an nothing has been displayed.
After about 30 Seconds i stopped playback and quit MediaPortal

    Logfile Zip is attached ;-)
    Thx for your help

if I do the same steps using DirectVobSub as subtitle engine, subs are displayed correctly
