No Signal for Anything (1 Viewer)

I was able to get a free Gateway tower that I want to turn into a PVR. I have an HP USB TV Tuner that I used for my laptop while I was in school, but now I don't use it anymore. I installed the drivers for the TV tuner and I installed MediaPortal by following the directions. MediaPortal recognizes the tuner (at the top of the configuration screen it says "HP USB TV Tuner), but when I scan for channels, every channel shows "No signal." The power light on the TV tuner comes on so its being powered and the green channel light just barely flashes so its picking up a little something. I plug the tuner into my laptop and used Windows Media Center and it found all of the channels without any problems so there's nothing wrong with the tuner/cable connection. Any ideas?

There is a setting somewhere (Im at work now so I cant give specifics) that had the choices General or ATSC. It warned that you should not change it unless you are experiencing problems. It was an option about tuning...this is for 1.1RC4. It was for each tuner, so look at the properties of your tuners in the TV Server config.

I could not get my Hauppauge 2250 or HDHR to tune unless I changed it from General to ATSC. Once changed, it worked.

    Hi,

i'm new on this forum. I try to solve this problem for several months (as long as i have time for it).

Thank you for the hint solas989. I have the same problem with the Cinergy S2 PCI Card but i don't find the switch for ATSC you mentioned. Can you specify it a little bit. I also use the version 1.1 RC4.

    Thank you

    Ok, the place is:
TV Server Program --> TV Servers --> Your Local Server Name (Select it)

Highlight your card in the list (the list displays Enabled, Priority, Type, CAM, CAM Limit, Name of card)

Click Edit --> At bottom of window that pops up, search for Network Provider --> default is Generic. Change it to ATSC.

This worked for me...but I am new to the new settings in 1.1...I dont think this existed in 1.02, but idk.

When you scan for channels, does it zip by real quick --> if so there is a setting in MePo that is wrong...That is what I got...I just started playing around and this seemed to do the trick. I have noticed that it sometimes changes when I shut down MePo forcefully...could be a bug but I have not done enough testing on it yet.

BUT, Always attach LOGS...they are EXTREMELY helpful to determine what is wrong with MePo

I did as you described but i have no selection between "generic" and "ATSC" but only "DVB-S".

I attached the tv logfile. I couldn't get much of it. Maybe you have an another idea.

    :D

Unfortunately I am not familar with DVB...only QAM,NTSC and ATSC. Hopefully, others here will be more helpful, especially now that you have logs...but since you are not the original poster, I might suggest creating a new thread, with your system specs and logs attached so others can directly know off the bat what the thread is about.

Do you have the software that came with the tuner? If so, does it tune the stations correctly? With my Hauppauge 2250 (ATSC/NTSC), MP recognizes the tuner correctly, I group the two tuners together (since they are hybrid tuners) and away I go once I select the ATSC setting (USA, Over The Air TV).

I wish you the best of luck!

    AW: No Signal for Anything

I found the error. For those, who are looking for the same error: Under TV-Server configuration choose General->Scan and if the Value for "Tune" is equal to 0 (zero) secs change it to 3 or 5 secs. After a new channel scan, the channels will be found.

I cannot understand, why the default value for Tuning is at 0.

    So long...

Thank you for replying with your solution! Many others will be grateful as I am sure more will hit this issue in the future.

    Have a great day
