I have a bunch of movies I have created/pulled off of digital tape capture from a home Sony camera. When I have done this, I have created both dv and mpg2 video formats. I have done this conversion using Roxio Media Creator and these videos play fine in mplayer as well as with windows media player and play sound without any issues. When I use the built-in player in MP, I have issues with many of my videos having no sound? I have played around with the audio settings in MP config and tried all of them with no luck. I'm not sure what else to try.

I have also played with using mplayer as the external player, which appears to work, however, I like to utilize ISO DVD's and the built-in player handles these well and when I have used 2 video folders - 1 internal and 1 mplayer, when I switch back and forth, I then have issues with the mplayer plugin showing audio without video...so if possible, I would prefer to use a single player, preferrably the built-in player within MP.

Any ideas as to what would cause the internal player to not have audio for certain mpg2 files?

Thanks.

HI hooners,

one of the first thing to check for is what the audio format is in (MP2,AC3 and such). You can use GSpot to find that information out.

Now each audio codec supports different format. My suggestion would be to use FFDShow as your Video Audio codec, and configure FFDShow to play the audio format.

The only problem I know of is, if the MPEG has DTS audio, MP can't play the audio track due to the limitation of MPEG muxer.

Thanks, but still no dice, I installed both gspot and ffdshow. GSpot tells me one these videos audio are: MPEG-1 Layer 2 - the info below that tells me: 0xc0:44100Hz 320 kb/s tot, Stereo

But still no sound?? I selected ffdshow as my audio codec within MP?

Any other ideas? they work fine when double click on them and run them in windows media player??
