When listening to some music I would very much like to turn the TV on (don't want our plasma to produce any burn marks now would we). However when I turn the TV off the sound turns off as well. Any ideas?

It doesn't need to show TV. What I mean by turning off TV is turning of my display. So I just put on music and since I don't want the playlist to burn in to my plasma tv I turn off my display, but then for some reason mediaportal stops playing the music.

    Hi,
How are you handling audio output? Does it by any chance go via your TV? If so then turning off the TV will turn off the audio. If all you want to do is blank the screen then perhaps the blank screen option in the MP main options is off use (You may need to ensure that the turn off display option is not also set).

Well I kinda assumed everyone would understand that naturally I'm not handling the audio through my TV or else it would of course be very very obvious as to why I wouldn't hear anything. But I'll just state it over here then: audio is coming from my mainboard and it goes to a separate receiver. My TV doesn't do anything with the audio.

OK this is a thought, is your output in the Nvidia control panel set to a TV HD resolution, try putting in as monitor with same resolution.

Apparently if no hdmi connection as TV, control panel disable the output, whereas if its set as a monitor this does not happen.

I take it MP is minimised when you turn TV back on, or does it stay fullscreen.

If above does not help, can you repeat and provided logs using Start menu\mediaportal watchdog\debug.
