New install of Media Portal on WinXP SP3 machine. No luck getting TV in Media Portal. Preview Channel works fine in TV Server Configuration. Keep getting error stating "unable to start timeshifting no video/audio available". I'm running out of options to try, and no luck on anything on the boards. TV Card is relatively new, but was recognised immediately. I have since added it to the CaptureCardDefinitions XML file (although not sure this was necessary as card detected from the start).

Would love to get this up and running as everything else seems great... although I still need to figure out how to play new itunes format songs... but that's for another day!

Thanks!

    Hi there and welcome :)

Sounds like you are using TVServer, so then the capturecarddefinitions is not used. Can you please attach full logs using the logs collector (see link in my signature). Hopefully someone can pick up the problem then.

    Thanks - log files attached

Appreciate your help - I think all my playing around with it has now actually made things worse as DVDs don't seem to be recognised either. Appreciate your help!

I found the place in your logs where the problem occurs...

...but unfortunately I do not really know how to help you. Can we try a few things while we wait for other help?

What is your decoder settings in the TV section of MP Configuration? Can you try other decoders and see if it makes a difference?

I've tried quite a few different decoders - MPV, ARC, ffdshow, and just installed PowerDVD which has 4 by itself (all for the MPEG2). H.264 I've tried Cyberlink, ARCsoft, and ffdshow as well.

I should clarify something - the error does not initially come up. Rather, I sit on a blank screen (no video/audio) and when I click on the screen is when the error occurs (I assume this activates some timeshifting component). My guess is I'm somehow missing the link to even play the video/audio - and as a result the timeshifting does not know what to do.

Upgrading my drivers for on-board ATI Raedon 3200H - seems others had problems relating to this... fingers crossed.

Success... after too much frustration! I googled the error you pointed out, and led me to an issue with my video card (ATI Raedon HD 3200). Upgraded to fresh new drivers and we now have video! DVD suddenly works again as well...

Thanks for all the help... now to work on getting some of the fun stuff to work like a new skin!

    Hi tatch76,

I have the same error and an ATI HD 3300 Onboard graphic card. What driver exactly did you updated? Only the graphic driver or also the Southbridge and/or northbrige driver? Did you change anything special in the graphic card video settings? Please help?

    Thanks,
    Eracansan

I just downloaded the entire new video driver package from the Gigabyte website associated with my motherboard. Didn't change anything really with the settings
