Mediaportal always worked fine. I had to reinstall windows XP then all the drivers and the codecs (k-lite codec pack), as before.
Windows Media Player and Media Player Classics can read .avi, .mov, .mpg etc. movies as well as DVD. Mediaportal cannot anymore. When I try to any video with MP, it shows "Unable to play xxx"
So to try to solve the problem I:
- update video card drivers (ATI)
- downgraded MP version (1.0)
- changed type of codec in MP configuration (both standard MPV/MPA and ffdshow)
but nothing changed.
I don't want to use external player (that anyway works) but I want to use MP internal player.

Where can I further investigate this problem? I tried everything but no success. Anyone good can help me?
Thanks!!

Do you know which driver of your Video Card worked correctly before this reinstall?

It was the driver installed by Windows XP installation CD. I also upgrade to the most recent version, but no fortune...

None can help? This problem is amazing. Reinstalled everythings: WinXP, drivers, codecs but Mediaportal doesn't read movies even if Windows Media Player can. How is it possible?:confused::confused:

I finally found myself!
It was just to set on configuration "Video renderer" the "EVR" instead of "VMR9". I dont know what is that, but now MP can play both videos and DVDs...
Anyone knows why?
Thanks Miranda and Paranoid Delusion who tried to help me.
