Ok, so I've solved part of the problem regarding my stuttering on my htpc but I still have the slightly (read majorly) annoying problem then NOD32 insists on doing a massive scan each time I tune to a channel (either from off or from another channel).

Is there anyway of stopping it scanning? Have I done summat wrong in the set up?

Ah, exceptions - good point thought about that but brain never clicked last night about which folders to include; I'll give that a go tonight.

AV - yes as I use my HTPC for more than just a HTPC; download box, FTP server for family, NAS, BD Burner, encoder so I have many tasks running in the background - come to think of it I could probably do with some more RAM.

I had the same problem years ago with mediaportal 0.2 and nod32
Exclusions were the solution
Maybe you can consider also a different antivirus (microsoft security essentials i.e. is light and do his work, with configurable exclusions for timeshifting and recordings folders)

Actually I think there there might be a problem (stuttering) with Microsoft Security Essentials too!? Not 100% confirmed yet but I had problems with one of my clients until uninstalled it.

    ...running AVG now :)

I'm running MSSE (with proper exclusions configurated) and it's all fine. No stuttering, no frame drops. I excluded timeshifting and recordings folder, plus mediaportal folders and executables.

    Bye

Well I got it all sorted by ignoring the MP program folder and the recording/timeshift folders as suggested above - all fine now :)
