Hello everyone,

can someone give me a hint?
I am looking for a quiet (no fan noticable) HTPC, like the zotac hd-id40
I have read, that zotac ships with a hearable fan, if your room is quite.

is there a real alternative?
tiny htpc
digital audio out / hdmi
able to play 50 GB 1080p movie-files
1000mbit network card
space for a small SSD drive
no drive slot needed (all data is remotely accessed via network)

something like this for the full movie experience in your living room with no fan-noises and some tiny HTPC?

thanks for any advice

If you run the Zotac with an SSD and adjust the termal limit a bit in BIOS it is dead quiet...
...at least that is what I have read in other foras. I am about to buy one to run my primary MP client on...

The ZOTAC ZBOX ID40, 2GB DDR@800MHz and a 32GB SSD and one is up and running for only 300€.

AW: Noise? Zotac ZBOX HD-ID40 Plus alternative?

that sounds quite useable.

and zotacs zbox id40 is able to handle s3 and maybe even s4?
are there any possible downsides? it sounds too good to be true

I'm looking at a Zotac ZBox DVD-RW ID31 right now (gonna put an SSD into it and use external storage for my collections), will it run MediaPortal skins smoothly and play my 1080p mkv's without hiccups? Anyone have experience with this one?
