I had MP stop playing anything. The whole application worked until I clicked play- then nothing happened (having previously worked fine for about a year). I eventually reinstalled anmd all was fine until it stopped again. I found that my anti adware (zone alarm) had called Bass.dll (from program files/ Team media portal/media portal) CasinoOnNet. I removed it from quarantine and am now back in business.
Hope this helps someone with the same issue
