I had a GeForce 5500 running in my MP machine just fine. I could notice a LITTLE studder in the OTA HD so i upgraded my video card to a MSI 660GT.

Now I can't even watch HD. :( I tried the "Pure Video" codecs but that didn't seem to help. The closest I've gotten in to about half the screen being filled with green pixels.. Alot of corruption and skipping sound too.

I know this may be vague, but any suggestions on where to start?
I'm running a P4 3gig, 512mb of ram. Tuner card is ATI 650. And like I said, this was working pretty well before I upgraded to a "Better" video card.

Please advise.. Thanks!

I take it your power supply is a high enough output (400+ Guaranteed watts) and it is capable of supplying the Grafix card direct connection with a stable voltage.
if so and you have the latest drivers, may just may be a faulty card.

I have a nVidia 6600GT. Although I use it in a Linux/MythTV PC, I have found that the latest nVidia drivers are not always the best. You may want to try an older driver and see how that works.

I was hoping this wasn't the problem. :( I have a silverstone lc11 case which has a propriatary power supply. Weird shape. It's rated at 300 watts. I was hoping I might be able to get away with it. Ever heard of anyone being able to run this with a 300 watt ps? I have disabled all extra power devices. CD rom , extra fans etc.. I noticed it was slighly better. No corruption, just VERY bad frame rate.

hmm... What about a different card? Any chance I could overclock my FX5500 to run the HDTV better? I think the stock clock on it is only like 200,250mhz..

Do most all fast cards that are AGP require 350+ PS?

    Thanks for the reply...

Do they provide the older drivers on the site? looks like an all in one package for the drivers. I'll hunt around and see what I can find. I know I tried a very old driver from the MSI website (Who branded the card) and my machine just kept rebooting when it would load the video driver. :)

Your talking the difference between chalk and cheese on that one, no comparison ability wise between the 2 cards.

Chances are a older driver will give you more problems, but saying that my daughters 6600GT runs 81.98 drivers fine for gaming, what driver is actually supplied by MSI.

It seems that nVidia won't let you download older versions of the Windows drivers. It will let you do it for Linux drivers, that's why I mentioned it.

I found a site with older drivers:
    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=10

I remember 76.76 being a good driver. But that seems so long ago, and it's not on the list.

It's weird, when I install any driver older then say, 80ish, the machine boots up after driver install, and as soon as it shows the desktop it reboots again.. Weird. Thanks for the link though, good site. I've also update my 4in1 chipset drivers etc

The one actually supplied is 70som'n.. :( I don't even have the CD.
I know the cards don't compete, but the 5500 was atleast working. Just a little sluggish. I thought I may luckout with trying to clock it up a bit.

On the PSU note, I threw in a 350w. Afterwhich, MP would'nt even try to show any channels. I donno whats up here.

I took a screenshot of what the video looks like with "Sage Tv" Screenshot attached.

Ever seen anything like this before?
