That surprised me about nvidia, really thought they would get beaten hands down, just by all the extra postprocessing that ATI cards do, now if only they can get the amount of shaders up

Well my nvidia 8600gt died last night and ended up finding an nvidia gt430 zotac fanless "zone" card.

Now.. I gotta figure out if it will fit in my zalman 135 case .. Might need to cut into the roof... Lol

Hi.
I'm using a passive GT 430 since some month now. Best HTPC video card I've ever used. Before I had some ATI/AMD cards so I can compare.

Pros: NForce Drivers are more stable than Catatlyst, and (most important pro) you can use LAV CUVID's superior SD/DVD quality... CUVID gives you a DVD experience that comes really close to some not that good BluRay and lots of 720p mkv...

Cons: Only thing I don't like is the high TDP. But sometimes that's the prize you have to pay. And, TDP is mostly important at 3D Gaming, not that much on 1080i video playback...

The special model I have is a two slot card. Next time I will look at a single slot one, if possible...

i have an old nvidia 285gtx card lying around and ive put that in while i wait for amzon to sed me my new card.... th specs on asus website say the 285gtx is 111mm high and zotac also says 111mm. Im getting worried now i may indeed have to cut the roof on my case as the 285gtx wont let me put the top of the case on.... sigh.. ill post pics on my sig thread when its done

Alright it came in the mail today and indeed the top most fin is keeping the top lid from closing.

Other than that the card is working great!

Any ideas? Cut the case? Replacement lid? Taking all suggestions.

I have some old ATI 3450 that has been collecting dust for years - I'm sure it will fit in that case
