    Hi,

Just wondering what format others are using for naming music files in the following situations

    1. Compilation Albums

1a. Each track has a different artist and the compilation doesn't have a specific album artist
    Various Aritsts - Lazy Sunday
    1. Moby - Porcelain
    2. Coldplay - Trouble
    3. Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me ?

1b. Each track has a different artist and the compilation is put together by an album artist
    Andy C - Nightlife
    1. Ram Trilogy - Skittles
    2. Pendulum - Vault
    3. DJ Red - Enta Da Dragon (Twisted Individual Remix)

    2. Single tracks

You don't have or want the whole album, so you just have a couple of tracks from an artist that don't belong or even have a particular album
    Smashing Pumpkins - Aeroplane (live)

    3. Albums that have more than 1 disc

    3a. A 2 disc album
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness
    Disc 1
    1. Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
    2. Tonight, Tonight
    3. Jellybelly
    Disc 2
    1. Where Boys Fear To Tread
    2. Bodies
    3. Thirty-Three

    3b. Album with bonus disc
Black Eyed Peas - The END
    1. Boom Boom Pow
    2. Rock That Body
    3. Meet Me Halfway
    Bonus Disc
    1. Boom Boom Pow (radio edit)
    2. Boom Boom Pow (dnb mix)
    3. Boom Boom Pow (vocal edit)

This is how i have it

    1. Compilation Albums

1a. Each track has a different artist and the compilation doesn't have a specific album artist
    Various Aritsts - Lazy Sunday
    1. Moby - Porcelain
    2. Coldplay - Trouble
    3. Travis - Why Does It Always Rain On Me ?

The individual Tracks have their Artist Name set.
In the AlbumArtist i use either the name of the compilation "Lazy Sunday", which is most often also the Album Name.
Sometimes i use also the genre or year as an AlbumArtist, so that i have all "Chill out" Samplers or all "60s" Sampler together.

1b. Each track has a different artist and the compilation is put together by an album artist
    Andy C - Nightlife
    1. Ram Trilogy - Skittles
    2. Pendulum - Vault
    3. DJ Red - Enta Da Dragon (Twisted Individual Remix)

The tracks have the Artist Name set.
    AlbumArtist = "Andy C"

    2. Single tracks

You don't have or want the whole album, so you just have a couple of tracks from an artist that don't belong or even have a particular album
    Smashing Pumpkins - Aeroplane (live)

Incomplete albums, i store physically in a folder named "_" in the artist folder and have the Album Tag cleared or set to unknown.
full album rips as the smahing pumpkins above go physically in their own folder Artist\Album and are tagged with Artist / Album and the track has "Aeroplane (live)",
mostly it is the same name as the Album.

    3. Albums that have more than 1 disc

    3a. A 2 disc album
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness
    Disc 1
    1. Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
    2. Tonight, Tonight
    3. Jellybelly
    Disc 2
    1. Where Boys Fear To Tread
    2. Bodies
    3. Thirty-Three

This is tagged as a normal album, i just use the "Part of media tag" to indicate that this is Disc #1 and Disc #2.
I don't change the numbering of te tracks, so that Disc 2 starts at TRack #4 in this case.
The Album Tag for bothe discs has "Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness". No "(Disc 1)", etc. appended.
    The tracks show then within MP as 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, 203.
This is a workaround in Mp to get te correct sort order. in MP2 we will solve that differently.

    3b. Album with bonus disc
Black Eyed Peas - The END
    1. Boom Boom Pow
    2. Rock That Body
    3. Meet Me Halfway
    Bonus Disc
    1. Boom Boom Pow (radio edit)
    2. Boom Boom Pow (dnb mix)
    3. Boom Boom Pow (vocal edit)

I'm doing the same thing with Bonus albums as just above.
However to clearly separate that this is a Bonus disc and not a regular Disc 2, you could append the word "(Bonus)" to the album name. Then you would have 2 discs shown in MP.

This is how i'm doing and i find the music i want to play very fast.
I'm sure there are a number of other suggestions, which i'd like to hear.
