Organising my movie collection (1 Viewer)

hi

first of all i'd just like to say what a great piece of software media portal is! after just outputting my laptop to the tv and navigating files in windows for a few years this feels a much more user friendly way to watch all my media!

what i want to do is organise my movie collection in to a number of categories (e.g. black and white, animated and so on). At the moment the only way i can really see to do this is to put them in separate folders named as above and then navigate to these folders in 'my videos'. This is fine but i wondered if experienced users had any tips or alternatives to this?

It's such a shame when i have just installed the moving pictures plugin and really like that, but i can't seem to find a way of having anything but one long list of all my movies in there? I don't suppose i can have a second or third instance of this plugin installed that could target different movie folders?

Sorry for the late answer...

It is not currently possible to run multiple instances of the Moving Pictures plugin. If I recall correctly, they do however plan a feature that will assist with your requirement. Did they call it filtering?

Anyway, I have read some members using Moving Pictures for one list, MyFilms for another list, MyTVSeries for TV series and then the normal MyVideos for remaining stuff.

I use both the Moving Pictures plugin and the built-in Video database of MediaPortal. After getting all the information for your collection the My Video's section will allow you to change view and I think you after genre. This should show you all of your "comedy" collection etc.
