Hi folks,

I am considering buying one of the new HTPC cases from origen AE - most likely the S-series:
http://www.origenae.com/en/products_series.htm

And indeed, probably this one:
http://www.origenae.com/en/htpc_s16v.htm

It has 80 mm fans, and a good amount of room in there (without being ridiculous like the s21).

Has anyone else got this case, or got any info on it? Any opinions? My google-fu is weak apparently.

Also, there is a remote shipped with the thing - it's an MCE remote from what I can tell - any info on that?
It uses IRTrans - is this and the VFD supported? Where on your mobo do you put that irtrans card?
http://www.origenae.com/en/accessory_ir221.htm

thanks for your help!

Hi,

I own a 15e and I'm using MP RC2.3 RC3. I think remote and software are the same.

1.) The remote works perfect. Just select IRTrans in configuration.exe.

2.) If you use Microsoft MCE there's a small change you need to apply to APPS.CFG. That stopps MC to pop-up after selecting the Home button on the remote. I found the tip somewhere in the wiki.

3.) I don't use the VFD that often. I thought I would use the touchscrren for audio navigation and the big display for video and TV. In fact the big display is always on now and I don't use the touchscreen any longer. My next HTPC wouldn't include a display of it's own ...

Greeting
Honey

I just change my HTPC, and I ask for this s16v but they told me that this case is not selling yet (maybe in the middle of December(in France) ... So I take the 15e
But the s16v doesn't use the same IR module than the 15e (IRtrans), you need to choose an option for the IR module and it's a philps with the new Philips MCE remote the RC197 :

That's interesting - but this is a MCE remote right, so will it work with mediaportal?

I was also looking into the S16V. I was a little confused if the MCE keyboard would work with the default IR in the case or it needed the "optional MCE & IR Trans module" I put in a call to fortunetec to ask this question and the rep said it used irtrans with the IR but his statment conflicts with the info on the Origen website in regards to the module being optional. I currently have an open ticket to find out about this as I dont really want to fork out that much $$$ to find out my mce keybord wont work with the standard IR. I love the new remote it comes with so if my MCE keyboard and its remote will work with the standard IR ill be getting one.

So - S16T:

Comes with IR221 Philips receiver -> as description says - ONLY supported by VISTA with no drivers needed! - no XP!
The RC197 is really nice - on Vista ;)
I was not able to get it work on XP.

also be careful with the harddisk mounting. with 3 mounted harddisk the case aks as sound box :(
a little workaround with rubber helped :)

Nevertheless the case is awesome - look and feel great.

I'm considering getting this because the touchscreen would enable music without the big display... Is there a problem with the touchscreen???

I was thinking setting it up, so big display would be main and touchscreen would always show menu - even when playing video on big screen - is this possible???

Thx...
