Hi there,

is it possible to use this http://www.origenae.com/product_vfd.htm to control an external stb with MP?

I have just added a WinFast PVR2000 to my system to watch Foxtel from within MP and I am hoping to change channels on my Foxtel pace box from MP using the IrTrans VFD...

Is this possible?
Can anyone get me started on this?

Thanks in advance....

No, it's not possible. That unit has no blaster, just an IR receiver. I have one and it works just fine w/ the IRTrans plugin. It also works with the LCD display, showing where in MP I am navigating. Once you have the IRTrans server figured out, the unit works well - but no control capabilities.

That's what I suspected, but the documentation from OrigenAE led me to believe (hope) otherwise.

In the manual it talks about learning other remotes and sending those commands. Also this link talks about full integration into WinLIRC, so I thought there was way to do it there.

But... if there is no transmitter in this device, the whole point is moot :?

If I get an ir blaster, will it cohabitate with this VFD? or is it a case of one or the other...?

Thanks

Yeah, don't get me started on Origenae and their level of documentation or customer support

At one time they were considering a hardware "add on" that would blast - but that went nowhere.

    Smeghead,

the internal VFD does not support that.
IRTrans has an external module as well, that can be used as a blaster.
After my vacation, i will extend the IRTRans remote plugin with this ability. However, you need to have the external IRTrans box for that.
With the internal used in the OrigenAE cases, this won't work.
