The TV only plays the front channels with its 2 speakers but its spdif or toslink out then passes this full audio to an attached receiver and this gets the 5.1/6/1 audio via the tv. This has advantages for those without hdmi switchable amps or those not wanting their amp on all the time. They get tv sound and on demand full 5.1 when the receiver is fired up.This fix also allegedly stops vista from disabling 5.1 out when some types of hdmi switching receivers pass on edid info to vista from tvs that attached to it.If anyone else has played with this and had some success I'd love a response before I go the hard yards and try bashing a custom inf file togther with modded edid data.TIA</blockquote>
