With the new skins being developed currently - and the concerns about overscan issues for some of us, I was inclined to implement this idea I had a while back.

It adds scaling to GUI - in addition to the offset available already in the UI Calib settings page.

Two issues remain:

1. You must back out of the UI page (just one level) to see effect of scaling. Not a major issue, but it would be nice to make this fully interactive. (Can guilib handle dynamic scaling without forcing full reloads?)

2. It doesn't affect OSDs, these have their own adjustment offset; I'd like to do the same (scaling) for these too at some point.

Cheers,
BigJ.

This does sound excellent. I always wondered why MediaPortal just didn't render to the section of the screen setup in the calibration.

The patch provides for *separate* scaling for fullscreen TV and for the GUI.
This is because often you want no scaling for the TV part so there is 1:1 source to output scaling - and anyway, having overscan is arguably 'correct' for TV. Whereas for the GUI obviously we need to be able see all the controls...

The OSD appears to be treated separately again. As I said in my posting, I'd like to implement scaling of this too; although it's possible using the same GUI scaling factor would be sufficient even if it still has its own offset (since it is really a GUI object).

Sounds GREAT!
Amazed by the constant improvements MP is making...

Unfortunately I'm not a MP-Pro and I am wondering how to use/apply this patch...

Can someone tell me how to install and use it?

Thanks in advance!!!
Henk.

This patch is provided as source code. So you'll have to compile mediaportal yourself or wait for a few days to see it in CVS changelog (if accepted by the devteam I understood), after which you can grap the CVS build and try it out.

Sounds great bigj, hope to see it in CVS soon.

Any news on this? Do the developers know about it? Is there some reason why it hasn't been adopted, like some issue with the idea?
