Replace the TvBusinessLayer.dll in the TVServer directory with the one in the zip. Anytime an ATSC channel is found with a provider name of "unknown" it will change the channel name to the virtual channel number.

Included in the zip is the relevant source file. The patch was a single line insertion (line 156) to the file.

Hi Whurlston,

Thanks for doing this!

So does this mean MP can view QAM channels via TVserver with HDHR?

How is the viewing performance with a wired and wireless network?

It means that the TVServer channel scan will find QAM channels. :D

To be honest, I have not tested it beyond this, but if you could get OTA channels working then the QAM channels will work. Some people have had issues with OTA.

Performance of HD over wired is great. Wireless depends on your setup. Some people get it to work, some don't. For me, one channel breaks up over wireless but the rest are fine.

Whurlston help please

When I replace the dll file I get a "can not connect to server error"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times-same result everytime....connects fine everytime until I replace the .dll file then it won't connect?! Any suggestions? Without the .dll I can't get the hdhr to scan fot channels properly and the tv engine that is integral to MP wont seem to allow analog and atsc channels input into the guide correctly:mad:
Thanks for any help you can provide

It will work for ATSC. The current "NoName" naming convention in MediaPortal works for DVB channels but not ATSC. This fixes that. All this patch does is if there is no Service Name data in the stream (ATSC channels only), it creates a name from the physical and virtual channels so that Media Portal will "add" the new channel like it is supposed to instead of "updating". Every time a new channel was found, it would update a "previous" channel because all the LNB data etc are the same for all ATSC channels (no LNBs used). So the scan ended up "finding" only one channel.

It was a simple one line addition to the code.

Edit: this will not change "unknown" in the provider data. If the provider info is not sent in the stream there is no way to reliably fix it as each station will be different. Provider will still be listed as unknown but if you are having trouble with MP finding all your channels, this should fix it.

Hi.

Is there a new version of the business layer? Looks like they've updated the TVServer and it says it now specifically supports "ATSC cards supporting QAM," so I'm hopefully I can finally get the TVServer to work. Thing is when I use the newest Business Layer below, the TVServer only scans one channel and then ends. Without overwriting the Business Layer the TVServer finds all the channels, but I get the classic "only one channel found" problem.

Thanks,
Mike

I don't have one yet but I'll look into it this weekend.

Edit: I took a quick look at the relevant file in the SVN and my above patch is now implemented (thanks devs) so something else must be causing it. I'll pull the full SVN this weekend and see if I can find what's happening.

Can you post or email me your logs after performing a scan? Email is my forum name at oshinetworks.com

whurlston - A little OT question but are you still using HDhomerun? You still believe that is the best for HD reception? If yes, have you heard if they are planning a version which would accept a CAMcard?
