PC -> Dvd player -> Tv: Play and Pause possible? (1 Viewer)

Hi folks, I'm very new to this, and here is a basic question:

Can I play and pause (control) a movie using a dvd player connected to my computer through a S-VIDEO connection?

Here is the scheme:

1: NVidia card connect a Samsung dvd player using S-VIDEO connection
2: dvd player connect a TV using normal video cables..

This is the DVD player I'm using:
So, with the P370 connections avaliable, can I control the movie playing in the computer using the dvd remote control?

Or there is no way, and I have to use some of that universal receivers in my computer? (which I don't have)

There is no way for standard MCE remotes (those that control PC's) to control a DVD Player.

You will need a universal remote like the Logitech Harmony One (or similar) to control both PC and Set Top items (like your DVD player).

Why not just plug DVD player directly into TV...?

Or better yet, put a DVD player IN your PC...cheap (~$35 USD) and you can use your MCE remote to control Media Portal and Play a DVD through MP...win win no?

Or am I totally missing some key aspect? Are we trying to avoid the purchase of PC DVD player? Is the Set top DVD player really better than one you would put into PC?
