Hi, I have a 780g / HD3200 motherboard with AMD 5050E CPU.

MP has always worked great, however since I upgraded to MP 1.0.1 and then 1.0.2 I find that every 10 seconds or so my PC hangs for around 2 seconds and is then fine again. I can't see any reason for this and as I say it's not video stuttering it's the PC as everything stops. When MP is closed my PC is fine again.

I've reloaded an image of my PC with MP 1.0 and all is fine again, so it's something to do with MP 1.0.1 and later.

Any ideas? as currently I'm having to stick with MP 1.0 because of this issue.

BTW I have another HTPC with Nvidia card that I have also upgraded, but have experienced no problems with this one at all.

Any help appreciated.

Same problem here. 1.0.1 worked just fine once I got it installed but that's another story and another thread. System information in profile.

    Hi all - Same Problem??

I have been using MediaPortal for some time time, and have been very happy with it. Ever since Version 1 (Now running 1.02) I have been experiencing lock-ups and mini-freezes (5 secs or so) when navigating in any of the MP menus.

There are several other posts where users have had the same issue and have solved it by entering the SQL password "MediaPortal" into the TV-SERVER Config. This has not solved the problem for me. The TV-SERVER functions correctly, and I can connect to the config OK, and watch TV in MP.

I have somewhat diagnosed the error - if I enter a "Wrong" TV-SERVER host name in the MP Client Config (I obviously can't watch TV), but the rest of MediaPortal runs fine - no menu freezes. As soon as I add the correct MP-SERVER host name the menu freezes start - MP still functions, just really slowly.

I have tried everything I can think of, but are at a dead end. The issues appears to be the communication between the MP client and the TV-SERVER (which are on the same PC) - I Just cant put my finger on it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Since my antenna isn't working at the moment I uninstalled the TV-Server which fixed the freezing. Not really an option if you want to use the TV-Server. At some point I'm going to try and get MP working with our extra satellite receiver so hopefully a fix/work around is found soon.

There seem to be a few posts on this, from what I can see from Wilda's logs, there seems to be connection errors showing, now that could be down to how any network\internet connection is being handled, You could try a couple of things, change all your settings regarding MP\TVServer to localhost (singleseat only) or possibly try the MSloopback adapter.

Does this happen only after standby, but works perfectly from a clean boot.

Hi Paranoid Delusion, thanks for your time on this.

For information, let me explain my setup. I'm sure this can't be unusual.

I have two PC's all running MediaPortal as below:

    Cinema Room:
Here I have my main HTPC with Compro satalite video card.
MP 1.0.2 installed plus TV Server installed.
    Everything works great.

    Lounge:
Here I have a second HTPC used for watching the kid’s movies which are stored locally on the PC. There is no TV card in this HTPC.
MP1.0.2 installed plus TV plugin. Using HD Home plugs to network to Cinema room PC. Home plugs stream HD perfectly.
I use TV plugin to receive TV streams from the Cinema room TV server. I only use this for ITV HD as I can't receive this currently on my Sky box. As you can imagine I only need to turn the HTPC in the cinema room on at the same time as the lounge HTPC when I want to stream ITV HD. All other times the Cinema room HTPC is off (Used only to watch a movie with the missus when Kids in bed :D)

I would say the Lounge PC in on the most as the kids watch their movies during the day. It sounds like MP1.0.2 is doing a handshake to the cinema room HTPC to see if it's there, which is understandable but if this makes the software hang for a second or so if the TV Server is not on, it makes using the lounge PC very frustrating.

My question would be wouldn't it be best to perform the handshake when you actually enter the TV screen. Why do this continually in basic home, and all the non related TV screens. I use Xface by the way.

As mentioned MP 1 never did this so the set up I had was great.

Now I have MP 1.0.2 in the cinema room, and MP 1 in the lounge but would obviously prefer to have both up to date.

I've attached the logs. As soon as it froze I closed MP so the errors should be right at the end.

Please help, looks like this is the main frustration at the moment with MP1.0.2 which other than this is brilliant. Please help get it back to 100% perfect! :D

TvClient-Radio: HeartBeat transmitter thread]: TVHome: Error in Reload - No such host is known

Does look like the handshake problem that you are having, not sure how we get around this happening in situations when the TVServer pc is shutdown, just do not think that MP can cope with this type of setup atm, if you disable the powerscheduler plugin does the problem go, or have you not got that enabled (cannot see any reference in logs so I think not).

    Hi, thanks for responding.

To confirm, I don't use powerscheduler. The thing is it all worked fine with MP1 so it can be set up like this, but not since MP 1.0.2. The developers must have changed something. Do you know why?
