Hi,

I dont seem to be getting anywhere in the video forum, so hope this is better placed here. Could someone check out my post here:
https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/watch-edit-videos-104/odd-periodic-freeze-video-playback-81767/

It is only happening in MP and seems to be related to this "repainting" entry in the logs.

Someone help.... please!!!!!! :D:D

The only thing I know in regards to video skipping\jumping\stuttering, is make sure you have no ASUS software running and exclude recording\time shift\video folders from being scanned by any antivirus or antispyware you may have installed.

After that it could be codec related, know someone recently had no skipping only with the M$ codecs, all the others he tried gave him stutter at some point.

OK, heres what i know for certain:

    1. its not a bandwidth issue on the usb drives. It happens on internal SATA HDD too and it DOESN'T happen on another machine on the network.
    2. I have not changed any codecs so should not be that.
    3. It does not happen in WMC or 7MC on the same machine. Only Mediaportal.
    4. It started when i updated to RC2.
    5. The log entry that mentions repainting frames happens at the exact time of the video freeze. Remember that there is no issue with sound, the sound carries on but the video stops for 2 to 5 seconds.

Can any Dev tell me what this repainting is and how do i stop whatever it is doing.

Are you running HTPCInfo... HTPCInfo has caused period freezes for me, I can reproduce this so well taht I can change the time in which HTPCInfo updates it's senses to 1 minute and then the pause is every one minute. I have mentioned it to the programmer with no response.

I have seen this happen as well...watching either a movie file or a TV file (using Movingpictures or TV-Series plugins) I will get an occaisonal freeze where the video stops but audio continues....only for a 10 seconds or so, then the video continues at the right point of audio (both are in sync).

I do have one usb drive attached to this main PC HTPC, so I'll look to see if I have the anti virus scanning that drive...if that is all it takes that would be a simple fix. I only noticed this on the last stable release and it has not been too much of an issue....although the kids think that when it freezes if they clap their hands it makes the video start again....funny their perception of issues. I didn't raise the issue on the forums because I honestly believe (and still do) its something with my configurations/setup since I haven't seen any other mentions (besides this post).

    Thanks
