I purchased some weeks ago a Philips white MCE remote; it works like a charm after pluging it but I've discovered that whenever I restart the HTPC the RC is not recognized by the system.

When the system restarts, the receiver green light is off and doesn't turn on until I unplug/plug it again

if I press the remote power on button while BIOS boots up, the green light turns on, but the RC is not recognized

I've just upgraded my MB firmware just in case, but nothing got improved in that direction.

Any help?
:D

Really would be nice to have remote model no. usually found on underside of remote, and what it is recognised as under device manager\usb controllers.

    I'm talking to myself :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If you are using Philips own software, there is a known fault where the remote receiver is no longer recognised and they have not found a fix afaik.

If you are using Windows7, then you need to be on latest beta version of MP, soon to become RC1 release.

Sorry, I can't look at the device code at the moment (still at work). It is no problem of MediaPortal but of Windows. The USB receiver simply isn't recognized/initialized after reboot. The receiver is original RC6/MCE. Philips produced them for Microsoft.

if it is recognised as RC6, then ehome drivers are used, there are a couple of things you can try to fix this.

    1. uninstall from device manager\usb controllers\ ehome irtransceiver and tick the remove drivers on uninstall, reboot and drivers should be reinstalled correctly, useful if at any time you have moved to another usb port.

    2. if ehome receiver is now shown in device manager and still does not work, remove batteries and leave them out of remote for 30 mins, replace with good ones.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem in the meantime?

I'm having the exact same problem on a Windows 7 64 bit installation. An identical remote that is on a 32 bit machine works without problems...

Currently I think it is the mainboard's fault (Asus M3A78-EM) and there is no solution. The same receiver works without problem with a friend's PC which has a Gigabyte mainboard. Changes in the BIOS regarding the USB settings didn't have any effect.

Does your friend have a 64 or 32 bit OS?

I've tried this thing on a couple of different machines and everytime it(didn't) worked was on a 32(64) bit OS.

    Hi Sten3,

my friend has Vista Ultimate 64bit and a Gigabyte mainboard GA-965P-DS3. No problems there.

I have tested Vista & 7 Ultimate 32bit. The IR-receiver has to be plugged out and in to work after reboot.
