Pinnacle 72e USB Tuner Stick (1 Viewer)

Hi i have trawled through many posts and forums trying to find out whether anyone has been successful at getting the Pinnacle USB Tv Stick ultimate (72e) to work with Media Portal. I am hoping to trial out the TV section of MediaPortal to see if i like it, if i do and it all runs smoothly then i will purchase the much loved Nova 500...

Any help is greatly appreciated

I had quite a few problems getting the 72e USB stick to work in MP. I solved it by installing the driver and software that came with the 72e, then uninstalled everything, except the drivers. The Pinnacle software seems to grab the stick and would not let MP access it.

Its has been running smoothly now for over 6 months.

What OS are you running? Also where can i find just the drivers, is it something that is available seperately on pinnacles website?

Ah that's the catch! You have to install Pinnacle TV Center to get the drivers. I tried looking for drivers everywhere, got feed up, uninstalled TV Center only to find it left the drivers behind. I think the latest update is version 4.99.

Just as a side point, this usb stick was easier to setup in Linux (Ubuntu 8.10). Mind you, Linux is still behind the eight-ball for media centres.

I am running Windows XP SP3. Once you have it detected in MP TV Server it is pretty stable.

I am pretty sure that when I uninstalled TV Center the drivers remained behind. Just make sure that the USB stick is in place when you uninstall TV Center.

Hello everyone!

There is BDA drivers for this stick on Pinnacles website. No need to install the whole packadge..
Once installed you will NOT have ANY problems.
I will post a link in a few seconds.. brb

So, if you installed everything, uninstall it (uninstall the drivers too!). Then put your USB stick in and windows will want to download drivers for it. Just point towards the folder with the drivers you downloaded and Voila
Im using Vista x64 atm, beta drivers works great.

Thanks sintei, I never found the BDA drivers. I'll get a copy of this just in case I need to reinstall.
