Hello :)

Ive recently installed MP choosing it over MCE because Bill is rich enuff i figure and i thought it looked a better product.

I bought a Pinnacle PCTV HYBRID 330e USB card and it wasnt detected.

I scoured the support pages read the documentation and figured id try adding the card to the list myself.

Carefully following the instructions i copied and pasted from a Pinnacle Dulux USB to the bottom of the Capture Card definitions file and started to edit.

I managed to do this ok untill i got to the <connections> area and i couldnt find any info on how to configure these.
If its obvious then sorry im a newbie and any help would be appreciated.

Just so u guys know i havent run to the forum to ask for help as soon as the card wasnt detected ive spent a good 2 days trying to work it out for myself ...... not having any programming experience makes it a little tuff.

The easy answer is to go get MCE and the card will work out of the box but at the end of the day thats not what im after id rather get this working and support Open Source.

Thanks in advance.

Exco,

I managed to get it running on XP with TV Center Pro 4.92

I had to ring their product support to get the registration key for TV Center Pro.

I cant see why it couldnt be supported by Media Portal if the Capture Card Definitions File is edited correctly.

Well MCE is based on XP so maybe theres a way around it, works great in MCE, with and without TVE3, maybe you should have a go at TVE3, could work there.

Thanks Soren,

Id prefer to try and get it running on a stand alone system before tackling the whole server monster

Cheers

Ok I bit the bullet after not being able to get Media Portal to detect my Pinnacle PCTV HYBRID 330e USB card and decided to give the server option a go.

All seemed to go great the server installed connection successful woo hooo it even found my videocard and i was able to scan channels etc......

The problems came when i installed Media Portal and the media portal plugin

I watched the tutorials so often im begining to speak with the same accent as the dude in the tute

basically as soon as i try and configure or start MP it crashes and gives me an error message immeadiatly on trying to start it.

I d/l all the things asked for in the tute and installed them the same way and im at a loss as to whats happening.

I didnt write out the windows error message but i will if thats needed to solve this problem or if anyone knows where they are usually found to copy and paste then please let me know.

Thanks again in advance any help would be appreciated
