Hello,

Not had my HTPC for long, self built. I'm getting pixellation on playing back MKV files, example overall bitrate of 662 Kbps. I get pixellation at certain points and when I play the same file through media player classic or windows media player at same point and other pixellation points it does not occur so ruling out corruption.

I can't work out why, when I play through media player classic I don't get any pixellation on any of my files.

Please help, I am really loving mediaportal and would think hardware, sotware and codecs is more than adequate. Please let me know if you need further info.

Thanks,
Ram

    Hi there,

Can you use graphstudio to confirm what codecs you are using when playing the movie from within MePo.

Can you attach your MePo log

    Thanks,

    J.

Did not know that LAV codecs supported hardware acceleration yet for intel graphics, just Nvidia cuda, so everything would be in software mode.

Saying that a i5 cpu playing a 720p file should be a breeze

Sorry, made mistake on the LAV, using it for audio only. Using ffdshow DXVA option on video. I'll correct the original post.

I'll find out how to do that and post the info. Thanks.

I've attached the graphstudio log (made a mistake on the codecs, using the ffdshow for video and LAV for audio) and also attached the MediaPortal log file too. Played the movie to the point when it starts pixellating, which has a lot going on on the screen and then stopped MP just after the scene changes and pixellation disappears.

    Thanks for looking.
