First i like to mention that i dont use playlists i use folders for albums instead.

i like to have to extra buttons:
mode & repeat

the repeat button toggles repeat
the mode button toggles between:
nothing // 1 Track // shuffle // intro // program

and no thats not my idea, i saw this on my first Portable CD-player and i think it was the best way to choose the setting i want.
because:

when i want to listen to one track all day i push mode till i see "1 track" standing on the display, after that i only have to push the repeat button. now i can here this track all day. same with program etc.

and after you have programmed your tracks/mp3s you can save it as playlist (maybe it is better to use a slot system). the system for playlist managment we got now i cant really understand.
