Many might know of the device from Apple designed to transmit sound via WIFI to a remote stereo. It is called an Airport Express with Airtunes. I bought one about a week ago for $100. It works great with Itunes to send my music to my stereo in the other room. Not too much static at all (if any), and cheaper than doing direct wiring of stereo cable through the house.
Yesterday I found out about a software that will allow any application (like MediaPortal) to send music over wifi. The application is called AirFoil by RogueAmeoba
