Play/Pause button no longer works in Mediaportal after 1.0.2 update (1 Viewer)

I have been using an SVN build of Mediaportal for a while (1.1.0 Beta 1 Rev. 23491). In that version, I was able to pause and unpause movies and tv shows using the play/pause button on my remote, as well as exit a video using the Stop button. Since doing a fresh install of 1.0.2 the Play/Pause button on my remote and keyboard no longer work. I've tried manually setting it, but it just doesn't work. I can set the key to "Space", but then I won't be able to use it in MPC-HC. Is there a fix to this problem?

Sorry, I upgraded to 1.1.0 RC2. I did not downgrade to 1.0.2.

I am using a Niveus Media RF remote. It's an X10 design. It works without any configuration in Mediaportal - just have to install the Niveus driver.

I realized that MPC-HC will also allow me to pause using the space key, so I just set the play/pause button as Space, and Stop as "b". Now it works fine.

Oddly, doing a full uninstall (removing all databased, backups etc.) didn't fix the problem even after going back to the old SVN build. Very strange. Media keys still work in MPC-HC.

It seems this problem impacts all multimedia buttons - play/pause, stop, vol up, vol down and mute. These all worked in an old 1.1.0 SVN build and stopped working upon doing a fresh install of 1.1.0 RC2. Oddly, even going back to the old SVN build doesn't fix the issue.

Other programs such as MPC-HC aren't affected. Please find a log attached from the debug tool.

I don't think the problem has to do with the remote but here is the model I own:
