my aim is to use MP for all my audio and video needs. After much messing about I have now just two outstanding problems DTS CD and SACD. SACD is never likely to be solved but I should imagine that I should be able to sort out DTS but so far no joy.

[I did have a problem with DVD_AUDIO but found a route to produce multichannel flac]

I can rip the DTS CD to wav which are reported by mediainfo as multichannel wav with DTS and play perfectly with VLC. This wont play with MP - its DTS. If I rip the wav to flac I get stereo but DTS again which MP wont play. Since I know flac can produce multichannel - its handled by DVD-audio - it should work

Anyone know the transcoding sequence to get this to work??????

just in case anyone is interested I have solved my problem.

starting with the wav file I use mediacoder (audio edition but that's not essential), specify the decoder as mediplayer and the encoder as flac and bob your uncle - 6 channel flac. Mediacode starts by thinking the wav files are 2 channel but gets its act together and spots they are multichannel.

Only one slight drawback - they flac is always 16 bits per sample regardless of the input.

So all done - MP supports all my media and i could get rid of my old DVD player. However .......the rest of the family just don't get on with MP.
