I'd like to play the TV Server TS files in WMP on a machine that does not have MP installed. I can get them to play if I install Haali. However I cannot get the audio to work. I've tried numerous audio codecs with no luck. However, as soon as I do install MP, then they play fine in WMP. So installing MP does something that makes WMP work too. What is it?

Still no luck. I tried copying TsReader.ax from a machine with MP into the System32 folder of the machine without MP. Then I registered it using regsvr32 TsReader.ax. WMP still cannot play the file. If I install Haali again, then it can play but still no audio.

Little more info on this. And btw, as I try new things, I always first revert to an image I have of a vanilla Vista install with SP2, nothing else.

What I found to work is this...
    1. Install MP Client only.
    2. Copy the TsReader.ax from MP to the System32 folder.
    3. Do a complete uninstall of MP.
    4. Register the TsReader.ax.

So even doing a complete uninstall of MP still leaves something behind that enables TS files to play in WMP so long as you keep a copy of the TsReader.ax and register it.

Question is, what is still left behind after a complete uninstall?
