Newbie here.

In configuring MP I came across Timeshifting (default 30 minutes). Would you explain what this feature is for please.

    Welcome to MediaPortal ... ;)

Timeshifting is when the live TV program is recorded to a "buffer file" on disk and then viewed from the buffer file at the same time, thus allowing you to pause, or rewind the "live" TV prgram. The 30 minutes refers to the maximum buffer size - meaning that after using timeshift for 30 minutes or more, you could rewind to a maximum of 30 minutes back into the current program. If you are likely to want to rewind further back into the current program, then you can make this buffer size larger, depending upon available disk space (~ 3GB per 60 minutes).

    HTH ... :)

Hmm. It never occured to me that there would be ANY restriction on how far back you might want to go if you are recording. Maybe I'm thick today, but if u are recording a show you will most likely want to see the lot of it sometime anyway.
I'll ponder this and no doubt something will suddenly click. I'll also run it past our son who's a programmer and lives in Melbourne too.
    Thanks (I think..... :)-()

If you are recording, you can rewind to start of recording, no matter how long you have been recording.

If no recording is scheduled then you can rewind max. timeshiftbuffer set in setup, or latest channel change.

    Brilliant!

    Thanks...... now it is clear.

That is a very handy feature. Now "the Dreaded" can but-in any time she likes (not that I will invite her to). Is there a Mute Button for HER?

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help! EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

Sorry, it's my fault -- I did not notice that you are using MP2. :( MP1 has a separate configuration utility, similar to "TV Server Config". I have tried MP2 only a couple of times, and have never used it seriously. I don't know what MP2 supports with regard to adjusting audio delay, but I do know that all of the adjustments of...
