Hi Guys,
I have UGLY problems with STUTTERING in Live TV and Recorded TV in 1.1.0.0 RC1! I use MP since 2004 and therefore did a lot of research in the forum before I launched this post. But now, my wife plans to set a deadline to fix the problems or she will boost me back in the Millenium before MP.
Before I start to describe what I tried an whats about my hardware and software, I WANT TO KNOW from you, if ther STUTTERING is a MAIN PROBLEM that might be fixed in RC2 or if not?
For me the question above is very important because if I get the positive answer that I am struggling on a general problem, then I could manage the expectations of my familiy for some weeks and immediatley can stop wasting my time on weekings. Why I am so frustrated? I experience the playbackstutter of RECORDED TV since 1.0.2.0. But now, both, Recorded and Live TV STUTTERS and I start to go crazy if I have to forward every 5 Minutes by 5 second to keep it off.
I know, you guys do good work and have to fight against old architecture and undocumented code. But you would be graet (instead of good) IF YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for the around 70K MP-Users and priorize your activities in stabilizing MP for MyTV and MyRecordings AND integration of HIGH QUALITY APPS from third parties. I do not need a new architecture every half year and and also not a MPII and or some nitty gritty enhancements.
All I want is to sit at night with my wife, watching TV without commercials, sometimes watch a HD-Movie, and view pictures of my childrens while listening music.
So, now I feel a bit better:
For the manner, that the ABOVE QUESTION will be Answered with NO the I now describe what I tried out during the last months
What I tried out in 1.0.2.0 and 1.1.x RC1:
I separately installed TV Server and MySQL Database on an EEEPC ATOM 270 (no ION) and the Client on an Pentium 4 HT.
With 1.0.2.x Live TV worked fine, Recording stutters.
I in addition installed and deinstalled
SAF 4.x Beta and stable,
DVB-Fix,
played with Package-Sizes of the IP-Frames and QoS
Turned off all Firewalls
Changed the size of Timeshift Buffers (Minimum 3, 20 MB)
Distributed Timeshift Buffers to several devices in parallel and separated (USB, NAS, Local HD)
EPG is only turned on if Idle
Installed all Patches and fixes that are available incl. SP3
Deinstalled all Antivirus stuff
Turned off all Software on client and servers
Installed a Gigabit wired Network
Restartet everything 1000 times
Moved from Microsoft SQL to MySQL
Deinstalled all addional MP-APPs (except IPMIMP)
Bought a new Gigabit Switch
Bought 2 NAS Servers
What I did not
Ramdisk
Change the DVB-T-Stick
Tried different Hardwae
Reinstall XP
Deinstall IPMP
Because I do not want to dig deeper it would be great, if someone of you steps in the role of a moderator and lead me through a let´s say "ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS". This means: if the one who will lead me tells me what I have to analyze, I will do it and send it with results to you. Maybe this helps all the others who are struggeling with the same problöem than me.
My Logs for Live TV and Recorded TV
There are some older Logs but I zipped alle logs immediatly after testing the client at the 4th of March.
